Uluwatu, One of the most famous surfing beaches in Bali

Bali is famous for harboring some of the best surfing beaches in the world and is a dream surf destination for all surfers.

One of the most famous surfing beaches in Bali is Uluwatu, which is located in the Bukit. Uluwatu is a wave that primarily forms a left-hander, fast, and hollow wave, which breaks on a shelf of reef. This is where you will find world-class waves for expert surfers only. There are 5 different spots in Uluwatu where you can surf. They all work best during different swells and tides. The spots are called The Peak, Racetracks, Inside Corner, Outside Corner, and the Temple.

The Peak works best during mid and high tide and starts pumping from 1ft to 8ft. You don’t want to surf it when it’s low tide because it closes out. It’s also the most crowded spot in Uluwatu.

Racetracks is a really fast wave and has a lot of sections. You can get great tubes and is best at low tide. This spot is usually ideal to surf at about 6 feet but can hold bigger surf during the right tide and the right swell. You can get a really long ride!

Inside Corner works well during mid and low tide with a swell of 6 feet. It’s a fun wave with an insider tube.
Outside Corner is known for being the “real” Uluwatu because it works only with huge swells that are bigger than 8 feet and only during low tide. The length of the wave is about 300 meters with long walls. Sometimes it even bowls up for a nice tube ride.

The Temple is usually the uncrowded spot of Uluwatu because it takes a professional to really surf it. It is very shallow but has great barrels when it actually works.

Make sure to wear booties, have a good quality leash, and always check what the swell and tide is doing when surfing Uluwatu. Remember when in doubt, don’t go out! Uluwatu is for expert surfers only!

What would you reccomend as a wet-suit for Nor Cal surfing.?

I am 6′ 1 and 145 pounds i was wondering what thickness of wet-suit you would recomend (it should be able to fit until like 6′ 3 since i’m a teenager and still growing). Also wondering if i should have a hoodie, gloves and booties?
Thanks for all the help both of you that’s exactly what I needed.
I was wondering would it be cheaper to get a non hooded wetsuit and get the gloves, booties and hoodie seperate or get a wetsuit thats hooded?>

Well I was just up in Nor Cal on a surf trip (i live in so cal) and compared to here it was warm, I surfed boardshorts! But in the winter I’ll have my 4:3 and personally I like wearing booties since you cant get hurt on rocks or anything. 6′3″ and that light, I’d go for a medium tall or just large. Im 5′6″ and wear a small, but my bro’s 6′2″ 175 with a large, so I’d try med tall… Have fun ripping the waves!

Have you ever been watching a surf DVD and you see some pro bust off the lip, land on some awkward angle with his body bent backwards into the white-wash and yet some how he recovers and manages to stay on his board? Don’t you wish you could do that? That sort of recovery requires an insanely high level of core strength and balance. Lucky for us, you can actually train to increase your balance and in turn improve your Surfing.....Click here to read the rest of the article:Real Surf!
