Science AIR PRESSURE questions?

Haha i so dont get it, as i wasnt in class today.
Help Please?

In New York Sandra likes her egg to be cooked in boiling water for 3 minutes. While vacationing at a ski resort in Colorado should she cook her egg for sam/longer/shorter time? Why?

What would happen to an astronaut who does not wear a space suit while attempting a space walk?

Thanks SO much!

I think that she would have to cook the egg longer because there is less pressure in the mountains and that would make the water less dense. Water that is less dense would be less efficient at transferring it’s heat to the egg. As for the astronaut… they would rapidly decompress. Their blood would bubble as all the dissolved gasses escaped and the gas would have to go some where. Possible causing them to explode.

Water Skiing For Beginners

Age doesn’t matter. How much of it can you take? Do you feel the adrenaline rush already?

Children of all ages can take up this sport – water skiing. But remember do not play the game before knowing the rules. That is, take care to know everything if you are a beginner.

The first timers have to go to a few places like a lake side where you would feel relaxed and at ease. This is the best places to start off.

The basics of body position, the movements and other nuances should be first learnt on land and then experimented. Once the confidence sets in you can test the waters.

A static boom is set along the moat when a new comer tests the sport. This helps the instructor to understand your movements and help you accordingly.

Everyone loves to remember the first day they headed for the water and this is especially true to small beginners. But a small mishap deters the person from attempting the next time. That’s why it is crucial to know how the environment works before you just get into the sport.

Children are more vulnerable to accidents and so a second instructor is usually around to give the required attention, confidence and emotional support.

Safety first, speed next. There are enough and more good schools around for water skiing and helps a long way.

If you have an acquaintance with you for water skiing, make you do it in a private area, to avoid those unnecessary distractions. This lets you concentrate on the sport evenly.

Water skiing instructors are always there to ensure your first experience was a very memorable one and that you will be back soon.

So what are you waiting for, the waters are calling, pack your bags and head to the nearest ski resort and check your levels of adrenaline. You might have missed something in life

Give me everything you know about water skiing&like how can you practice if your a beginner at home on your own time,is there something you can do out of the water to practice, like maybe for balance or anything like that?
thanks&is water skiing a hard sport to learn?,thankyou!

Well what I do is I go out in the middle of the lake or whatever and jump in and then I have someone give me the skies. Then I like sit in the water like I’m on a chair and put them on. Then someone puts the rope into the water and then drives forward so I can grab the rope. When you get the rope make sure you put the rope between your skies and the tips of the skies are pointed up. When the boat starts to go make sure you don’t lean forward otherwise you do a face plant into the water and keep your legs bent and together or you may do the splits. Make sure you you don’t Lean forward for another reason because it really hurts you back. Only lean forward when you getting pulled out of the water and then lean back as soon as you are up but not to far. And if you you fall let go of the rope so you don’t get pulled that hurts. And if you want to stop just let go of the rope. You will keep going but not to far you will go like two feet and then just go into the water.

Have FUN!!

Boating Accessories: If You Are to Purchase Boating Accessories,Here is What to Look For

That Long awaited baot in now in your ownnership,You have purchased it,without a doubt for different reasons you will come to realize that there is more to ownership of the boat than just a vessel.

You will find that accessories are synonymous with a boat; sometimes their cost far exceeds the cost of the boat itself. A plenty of variety of boat accessories is found in the market several types, models and sizes to select. The fishing accessories for your boat should be chosen in a manner that makes your boat the best on the waters.

The Best, the Ugly and The worst

There are a ton of different boat accessories out there. Some are essential and some aren’t. Let’s look at some cool boat accessories, some you should have and some that are just flat out cool. If you intend to purchase the boat for the purpose of pleasure, which includes fishing and cruising and spending a whole day out on the water, then the accessories that you should be looking at are, a barbecue or a grill. It would also be advisable to throw in an anchor to keep the boat from drifting off while you cook or fish. If you decide to go in for a ski boat, you need an entire range of accessories to accompany the boat. You must be prepared to invest large sums of money as some of the accessories are expensive. Ski boat accessories include a ladder, a swim platform along with a wake board tower thrown in. Also it is important to remember that these boats do not have proper mirrors, so ensure that you add them to the list of accessories.

Another two Cool Boat accessories that you will need are:

1-Reversible Hats:
Not really an accessory essential but it can really help you out, just like the sunglasses but the hats will also help with a nasty sunburn.

2-Sunglasses:
It may not seem so, but this has to be an essential boat accessory as well. If you’re out on the water and the sun is shining, you need a good pair of sunglasses from both the sun, and the reflection of the sun off of the water. Not only does that make it incredibly tough to see, you’ll find yourself with a nasty headache after awhile if you don’t have good sun glassess.

If you can spend a little more cash then you should better get a flash freezer. It is advisable as it freezes the catch in less than a second to make it as fresh as you would want it to be. Commercial fishermen consider this a boon, as all people want their fish fresh. There are a few more things you need to make sure while using a live well. For instance larger catches make it a problem for you to maintain your live well especially when you have a smaller boat.

Looking for Water Skis, What should I get?

I have skied before but have never water skied. I am looking for something I can get for about $200 (with all of the accessories). What should I look for as a beginner and do you have any suggestions? Thank you!

get a decent combo pair of skis. If you’ve never waterskied then you dont need to waste your money on a slalom ski ( can cost up to $1800 for a good ski with bindings). learn on the pair then when you’re ready to try slalom then you use the ski in your pair that is the slalom ski. decide if you like the sport then go for a better slalom ski.

this pair with the rope/ handle, bag and vest is a good deal.

Let’s Go Baoting in California

What better place to enjoy the sport of boating than in the beautiful, sunny state of California? This beautiful state has lots to offer, but when boating in California, you’ll have more options than you could ever imagine. With so much ocean front coastline, the boating adventures that await you in California can be the best you’ve ever had.

While California ranks second to Florida in boating registrations, it still is a very popular boating destination for many people. Besides ocean cruising, California also has many lakes and rivers available to boating enthusiasts.

All types of boating can be done in California. From kayaking to speed boating to cabin cruising, you can find all sorts of boating opportunities on the West coast. Where are some of the more popular boating locations in California? Beside the obvious Pacific Ocean, here are a few to try out:

* Lake Berryessa in Sonoma County is a great place for power boating and water skiing. There are also some great places to swim and picnic. * Clear Lake is a little bit north of Lake Berryessa which is another great place for skiing and sunning. * Lake Tahoe is one of the most popular boating destinations in California. It is well known for all sorts of water activities. Tahoe boasts hot summer days and cool nights which makes it a beautiful place for boating, relaxing, and camping. * Shasta Lake is more inland and is located in Northern California. Lake Shasta offers swimming, wakeboarding, waterskiing, and all kinds of boating, including houseboat rentals for those who never want to leave sight of the water. Lake Shasta is around 150 miles north of Sacramento, and is a vacation paradise for trout fishing, camping and outdoor fun all within sight of beautiful Mount Shasta. * The San Francisco Bay area has many marinas and boating clubs dotting the coastline. Its location makes it a great place to shove off for a week-long cabin cruise, or take in a day of sailing. The bay area is also very popular with yachters as is evidenced by the many yacht clubs located in the area.

Fishing is a big part of California boating. You can catch everything from river trout to largemouth bass and Coho salmon in the waters of California. Because this is a such a popular boating destination, you can enjoy boating in California even if you don’t own your own boat. Boat rentals abound for anyone who wants to enjoy the waters in this beautiful state.

The weather is beautiful in California making it a great place for boating. You can find so many other destinations than the ones listed above. California is truly a boating paradise. Happy boating!

Where can I go skiing?

HI! My friends and I want to go skiing or water skiing for the first time, but not know what to do. We live in Temple City, California. Does anyone know somewhere near there that has ski rental aircraft and a lake so that we can use it? Is there a place that exists? Do you think the rental of jet ski, then take you to a place like the beach and back each time? If someone could give me a website address and how much, and if it is upon us, I will choose the best answer. Please help! Thank you very much in advance!

Lake Perris has ski rental aircraft as Castaic, pudding, Lake Silverwood, Big Bear Lake, Lake Piru and Lake Pyramid. Costs vary around $ 100 times 2 hours. Call an ask em better http://www.parks.ca.gov/default.asp?page_id=628 Castaic

All About The Largest Man Made Body Of Water In The US

Encompassing 1.5 million acres is Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The area features two reservoirs: Lake Mohave and Lake Mead, the largest man-made body of water in the United States. Located on the Colorado River, it is located about 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas, Nevada. It holds about 28,500,000 acre feet of water and stretches for 110 miles behind the dam. It covers approximately 247 square miles and covers 550 miles of shoreline, when the lake is full.

Both the Hoover and Davis Dam create Lake Mead and Mohave. Originally named Boulder Dam Recreation Area, Lake Mead was named after the commissioner of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, Elwood Mead, who served on the board from 1924 to 1936 during the Boulder Canyon Project. The creation of Lake Mead forced residents out of communities, and the last to leave home was a resident in St. Thomas, Nevada in 1938. When Lake Mead’s water level drops below normal, the community’s debris can actually be seen.

Naturally, a body of water of this size receives about 7 to 8 million visitors annually, making it one of the most popular National Recreation Areas. It is open year-round at all hours of the day and charges a low-cost admission fee per vehicle. A wide array of activities are offered, including water skiing, swimming, fishing, camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities.

The huge lakes cater to boaters, fishermen, and sunbathers while the desert caters to hikers and sightseers. There are currently eight marines that offer boat slip, boat, and house boat rental services to locals and visitors. There are about 8 campgrounds, 5 recreational vehicle campgrounds with hookups, and a few motels. For those who prefer taking the scenic route, the North Shore Road is the way to go.

The scenic drive is 40 miles long and starts at Lake Mead Blvd. and ends at Overton Beach. The drive is breathtaking, with views of the desert and the large lake. There is also a museum called the Lost City Museum, which houses exhibits of the Virgin Anasazi Native American group.

Lake Mead is threatened by the climate change and in February 2008 only held 50% of its full capacity, which is more than it has been since 2000. The average snowfall in Colorado has been declining steadily, causing less water to flow into Lake Mead once the snow melts. About 95% of the water that is in Lake Mead is created by melted snow from Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, and Utah.

Rural, Waterfront Living Close To Atlanta

Waterfront Homes near Atlanta Georgia

Waterfront homes near Atlanta are like mountain cabins in Florida. Well, one of the best kept secrets in the Atlanta Area is just 30 minutes from Buckhead. A cozy private lake located at the corner of Gwinnett, DeKalb and Rockdale Counties named Norris Lake. This lovely, tree lined lake covers 96 acres and is suitable for just about all water sports for young and old. Your kids will find healthy enjoyment Water Skiing and wake boarding and of course swimming and diving. The BASS fishing is absolutely fabulous, witnessed by the huge turnout at the twice annual fishing tournament held by the Neighborhood activities committee. Large mouth bass of 10 pounds and more are not uncommon and of course there is an abundance of brim and catfish.

This summertime mecca is located just 30 minutes from downtown Atlanta and offers a wonderful, rural ambience that sort of reminds me of Maybury RFD, not Atlanta, Georgia. Norris Lake was originally created as a 30 acre pond in 1936 and was intended to be a fishing camp with a few small cottages for weekend retreats. Over time more land was flooded and plans evolved to make the area a golf course community.

Fortunately, that never happened but most of the small seasonal homes have been replaced by year round houses and new waterfront homes continue to be built. But even with all of the newer homes, Norris Lake still feels like a page of history. Many residents still own and operate vintage power boats from the 1970’s, including Master Craft and Correct Craft, inboard, ski boats. Dotting the shore line are a number of little boat houses built in the 1950’s and 60’s that are barely big enough for a boat. Yet, right next door you are likely to find a new $80,000 wake board boat, jet ski or pontoon party boat.

Norris Lake is privately owned and access is granted only to resident members and their guests. Thus, on any given summer weekend, you will seldom experience more than a half dozen power boats on the water at a time so you never have the confusion and traffic of Lake Lanier. And speaking of Lanier, even during the peak of the drought when Lanier was virtually un-accessible, Norris was filled to capacity and overflowing the spillway.

Waterfront homes generally are priced between $150,000 and $350,000.

I was water skiing a few days ago and my arms are really sore from it… one arm feels as if it’s been strained in the tendon near the shoulder and the other is having frequent mild spasms. The pain is not KILLER unless I make a full, agressive golf swing.

I have an important (company networking) golf tournament tomorrow that Ive been planning for a while and cannot miss, so I have to play a round of golf tomorrow with my arms in their current state. I am wondering how I can best prepare to play to my best potential tomorrow (after all, theres $ involved too!) and not make the injury any worse.

What pain relievers (i.e. advil liqui-gels?) should I take and what should I do tonight, which is the night before the tournament? Anything else? Thank you!

Jet Ski And Sea Doo Story

Jet Ski and Sea Doo are two brand names that have become generic names for stand-up and sit-down personal water craft (PWC) respectively. But just like any other story, these two have their own stories which are closely related to each other. As you are familiar with the names today, Jet Ski is manufactured by Kawasaki while Sea Doo is manufactured by Bombardier.

Here is the brief story:

During the mid-60’s, Bombardier started a project that would create and market a personal water craft. The company lunched its first sit-down model in 1968 with the name Sea-Doo. During that time, the company already had an established market on the snowmobiles. Here, the name Sea-Doo is an altered version of the Ski-Doo (Bombardier’s brand for snowmobiles). Unfortunately, the company has pooled out the Sea-Doo from the market in 1970 just before the new line of Sea-Doo will be released.

This was because there are several problems on the design for the water craft that could not be answered during that time. Technology was insufficient then and to solve the problem means spending a lot of money and engineering, which Bombardier could not afford since the Ski-Doo was so hot in the market.

Meanwhile, as Bombardier discontinued the Ski-Doo, Kawasaki become very aggressive in developing this personal water craft.

On the early part of the 70’s Clayton Jacobson II, the man who gave a lot of inspiration to the Bombardier in term of design and personal water craft specifications, sold the rights to his patent to Kawasaki. This deal gave birth to the Jet Ski.

The Kawasaki Jet Ski was released with a little promise and gave only several hundred sold units. However, in the 80’s, the Jet Ski sales skyrocketed and sold several thousands. Here, the name “Jet Ski” has become the generic name for stand-up personal water craft.

The Bombardier had responded with the rebirth of the Sea-Doo. It did not intend to capture the market of the Jet Ski. Instead, Sea-Doo created a personal water craft that could be used by anyone (since they thought that the Jet Ski was only for athletic people). Bombardier had created Sea-Doo as a sit-down personal water craft. The design of the second generation of Sea-Doo may not be very different from its predecessor but it has already overcome their original problems.

Today, Sea-Doo and Jet Ski are two major manufacturers of personal water crafts and have eared the name on their own.

Lake Havasu Arizona – a Hidden Treasure

Bordered on the west by California, Lake Havasu is a water oasis in the desert of Arizona. The result of the construction of the Parker Dam this lake was established in 1938. The City of Lake Havasu was founded by Robert P. McCullough, the inventor of McCullough chainsaws, who used this lake to test boat engines. He purchased 3,500 acres of land on the east side of the lake. Early residents around the lake lived in tents earning them the honor of being the pioneers of the 1960’s.

Spring Break at Lake Havasu is a welcome change from the rowdy, drunken free for all that many tourist locations contend with. Activities at Lake Havasu encourage students to go hiking, boating and to enjoy the serenity that is found in nature.

The London Bridge that spans from Lake Havasu to Thompson Bay was purchased by McCullough in 1968 for $2.5 million dollars. Painstakingly disassembled in London, each brick marked and transported to Arizona, the bridge took three years to reconstruct. Modifications for safety and fit have changed it but visitors do not seem to mind. A small English village transports guests across the sea as they stroll down the quaint streets. This bridge provides a spectacular view at night of the lake, city and the sky.

Outdoor activities are almost unlimited at Lake Havasu. Tourists can rent a boat, water ski, Jet Ski, parasail, hike, bike, swim and fish during the day. Houseboat rentals are available for families who want to escape to a quiet location. Lake Havasu State Park has a few miles of rugged hiking trails for the more adventurous visitor.

The Mohave Trail, which is only one and a half miles long winds gently from the desert side of the park down to the shoreline. The Arroyo-Camino Interpretive Garden features the native species and wildlife that inhabit the desert surrounding the man made lake. Public beaches and picnic areas give vacationers the chance to relax and unwind after walking in the desert sun.

Should the weather turn bad, a visit to the completely enclosed Aquatic Park should keep you busy. Featuring a 254-foot totally enclosed water slide, a wave pool, a children’s lagoon and many lounge areas; the therapeutic pools will soothe those over worked muscles. The Aquatic Park offers many families a place to escape the sun and still enjoy the water. Special package deals are available for those families who plan ahead. Visit their web site for more details.

Golf courses in the city and out lying areas offer spectacular scene view for the avid golfer. Bridgewater Links, located near Queens Bay, has 3 daily tee times on their nine hole, 1,808-yard par-30 course. The London Bridge Golf Course is an 18-hole, 6,140-yard par-71 course. The Refuge Golf Course offers nine and 18 hole rounds. All of these courses are open to the public however, reserving your tee time early is suggested.

The Museum of History provides a glimpse into the rich traditional past of the first inhabitants. The Chemehuevi people present Native American dancing, singing and music for this museum. Special events such as the YaYa’s women’s group prepares fry bread and traditional crafts throughout the year. Video presentations of “Bringing Creation Back Together” details the Salt Trail Project held inside the museum.

A trip to Lake Havasu will provide any family with the perfect Arizona vacation destination!
