Are there any indoor surfing on the east coast of the US?

I want to learn to surf, but it’s pretty cold on the east coast right now. My dad was telling me about indoor surfing lessons. Does anyone know anything about them, and/or possibly any locations? Thanks!

Indoor surfing isn’t surfing. It may be fun, but it is nothing like surfing.Surfing is an ocean sport, that should only be practiced by persons who are already competent ocean swimmers. Swimming in a pool is neat, but it’s not ocean swimming, with undertows, rip tides and sometimes BIG waves. I have seen lots of great pool swimmers get rescued. So, my first tip on how to surf is to be at home in the ocean. There are way too many dangerous people in the water now. They are a danger to themselves and other surfers, don’t join their ranks. We don’t know too much about you. Maybe you already have the ocean skills. You will have plenty of time to start when the weather warms up.

Please don’t pay any attention to the jimman. Perhaps he plays at surfing, but after 45 years of surfing, I have seen too many people get in trouble because they don’t know their limitations and really don’t understand the ocean. I rescued too many expert “pool” swimmers not to understand the difference.

Cruising the California Central Coast From San Francisco to your Carmel Vacation Rental

An excellent approach to get some flavor during your northern to central california coast drive, would be to commence in San Francisco and end in Carmel. Make sure you reserve one of the numerous great Carmel Vacation Rentals before you start off on your journey. You need to begin the first day or two in San Francisco in case you prepare to take at least a week. Remain in San Francisco for a minimum of a long day to see all the major sights. These include Fisherman’s wharf, Coit Tower, Golden Gate Park, Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. Undoubtedly, be sure to dine from you choice of several of the great restaurants within the city. Harry Denton’s is locally famous for ambience and an amazing view of the entire city from above. After you leave the SF, travel down hwy 1 along the ocean passing Mission Beach and for that next hr you’ll be awed by the gorgeous shoreline from Pacifica to Half Moon Bay to Santa Cruz. A couple of miles just before Santa Cruz is Waddell Creek plus a great spot to turn off and get a break. Waddell Creek is world famous in the kite boarding/wind Surfing community. Across the street from this beach is also the entrance to Big Basin park which still has some giant old growth redwoods. You’ll now be getting into Santa Cruz or Surf City as its commonly referred to as. In the event you want to slap on a wetsuit and give surfing a try, then head down to Cowell’s Beach by the Boardwalk for the best beginner waves.

Here you are able to rent longboards, wetsuits and even a lesson if you’d like. During low tide, the waves at Cowell’s is a perfect rolling mushy wave that is easy and forgiving to catch. This type of wave is called a party wave as a bunch of people can get up on it and ride. Its a load of fun. Following this you’ll be able to cruise a lot more beautiful coastline down to Monterey. In Monterey you can spend some time at the Monterey Bay Aquarium or take a drive on 17 mile drive. The aquarium has close up views of many of the creatures that live off the shores and 17 mile drive tours along the coast interweaving the beautiful coast, wildlife and world famous golf courses. The next and last stop on this journey is Carmel. Carmel by the Sea is very laid back and strolling about town feels so right when you’re there. The gorgeous white sand seashore with views of Peeble Seaside lies at the end of the downtown strip. There are many Carmel Vacation Rentals to select from when staying here. It offers you much more space than a hotel and is a fantastic way to keep a large group together enjoying each others company.

There are also Carmel Cottages in the Carmel Highlands, Carmel condos downtown or expansive ocean estates seaside. There’s sure to be a fantastic fit for any group. Following cruising the California coast, kicking back again in Carmel permits you to get all that you have taken in and smile.

Surfers Paradise is the commercial heart of the Australian Gold Coast. Here you will find shopping, night clubs, and lots of live entertainment. This is a busy hopping place that attracts families, teens and 40 somethings alike. The beaches are best in the morning as the high rise buildings shade the beach in the afternoon sun. The beaches are not the main attraction in Surfers any more. If you are looking for a nice quiet beach, this is not the place, head a bit further north.

The main drag through Surfers is Cavill Avenue. Cavill ends at the beach or seaside. Orchid avenue is the hot spot for all the bars and night clubs. Surfers Paradise is split on either side by the Gold Coast Highway.

Although Cavill Mall is the recognized centre of Surfers, new up market shopping precinct Circle on Cavill is the new heart of Surfers Paradise and can be found bounded by cavil Ave, Surfers Paradise Blvd and Ferny Ave.Japanese visitors will be pleased to find that most street signs are written in both English and Japanese ” a reflection of the strong attraction the Gold Coast has for Japan. Surfers have many sights worth visiting apart from the beach. Infinity is a walk-through maze cleverly disguised by an elaborate sound and light show which is a winner for the children. At 230 metres high, you wont miss the Q1 building. The Observation deck at the top has 360 degree panorama of the Gold Coast and its hinterland. On a clear day you can see north to Brisbane and south to Byron Bay. Wander around the glass-enclosed deck and youll learn other interesting facts about the building .There is also a caf an comfy lounge chairs so there is no need to hurry back down to the ground.

All along the beach you can find kayaking and surfing schools. These schools cater to beginners as well as intermediates. The cost is anywhere from $40 to $50 for a two hour lesson. For a more adrenaline pumping experience, try the Jetboat Extreme. This turbo charged twin jet powered custom jet boat propels youn across the water at amazing speeds. Bungee jumping is another heart pounding experience. Adrenaline park offers many bungee type experiences for the brave at heart.

For something a bit less crazy, don’t forget to go whale watching between June and November or go on a three hour horse riding trek through beautiful rain forest and river scenery in the Numinbah Valley,230 kms south of Nerang.

For the family trip of a lifetime book a reservation at Gold Coast accommodation.
Gold Coast hotels offer something for every one in every budget and star level.

surfing in florida?

im going to naples in august are there and surf spots around there and i need places for lessons.

Wrong coast. You might get lucky and get some waves though, but I wouldn’t bet on it. Maybe there will be some tropical activity in the gulf to help you out.

Learning to Explore Arizona Tourism

Arizona's tourism is a state that has attracted visitors from all over not only the United States, but also other parts the world. But what is the state of Arizona, which attracts many visitors each year and each of them? While there may be mild winters attract many winter visitors each year, there are many attractions that are contributing factors that can be added to the list of reasons why people want to explore Arizona. Admittedly, the Grand Canyon is an attraction in itself, but took the Grand Canyon, there are still many other attractions that this state of the desert has to offer. Is it due to diversified climate where people can travel north to cool in the summer heat or access in many lakes where you can go boating or fishing? Or is it because in the heart of winter, visitors can travel north, where you can go skiing in the mountains? The fact is, Arizona's tourism is very popular because of the wide range of opportunities in virtually any what part of the state. Arizona's tourism is known for the long cycle of golf all year and many travel to the state to exactly that. Much like taking a vacation with breathtaking views of Sedona AZ, where everyone who visited Sedona, you will probably tell you the experience Sedona to really understand how it really is beautiful. Tourism Arizona may also be experienced in the southern part of the state where Tucson is historic. There are other things to do in AZ as excursions in the White Mountains, the life of the city of Phoenix, Scottsdale and also to attract travelers from other parts of the country and other countries, too. It would be really difficult to give a simple answer to the question of why Arizona is so popular with visitors. The fact is, however, depending on who you ask, may well have a different answer. All these reasons for people to experience Arizona's tourism are true. The size may also have something to do with the popularity of tourism in Arizona, too. Arizona ranks sixth among states in size and extends over 114.006 square miles (295.274 km ²), including 364 square miles (943 square kilometers) of water, giving both visitors and many residents of the part to the experience Arizona. There are a lot of leeway that Arizona has a total size is equivalent to 392 miles from north to south and 341 km from east to west. This could also explain why many residents are more likely to stay in the state when planning your next vacation with one of the many attractions Arizona. During the summer months, when many Arizona head further west to California Like many, if not more, travel to elevations North, like Sedona, Grand Canyon or the White Mountains, where the climate is typically 15 to 20 degrees less. As mentioned, tourism is very popular all Arizona throughout the year with a diverse climate. Each year in late summer early fall Arizona drop see many birds in cooler air from other parts of the country who come to convince the Arizona desert until spring when it warms up enough for their return. Arizona's tourism is also popular because of all the 1-day activities and attractions, including walking. Arizona average altitude is about 4100 feet or 1,250 meters. Contrary to what some may believe, Arizona is a state of the background without color or Wildlife! There are many mountains with elevations rising to surprise you and a list of wildlife and colors that you will probably want to explore the desert wildlife Sonoran Desert has to offer. Arizona's tourism allows everyone to explore the diversity of landscapes found throughout the state. Arizona trip also includes the magic (and mysterious for some) red rocks and mountains still snow. Arizona really has something for everyone and there are lots of things to do in Arizona. Whatever your interest or skill level can be used, provided that there are countless activities Luxury from prosecution! AZ Tourist understand their role and promote the rule and understand that the state depends on its annual visitors. It this is a recreation of a Wild West shootout, rafting, take a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon or skiing in Flagstaff in the winter, the Office Arizona Tourism has something for everyone in terms of pleasure.
Most families want to spend their vacation relaxing and recouping after a hectic year of work and managing home. However, there are some families that like to spend their time enjoying and indulging into adventure sports to get their adrenaline flowing. If you are the kind of person who loves rock climbing, skiing, kayaking or go snowboarding, then read on.

While some people may not be up to adventure vacations, they are definitely a great way to bond with your family and spend some thrilling and enjoyable time together. Of course, it goes without saying that adventure vacations go beyond the usual and traditional vacations that most people have. If you want to experience an adventure vacation, then here are some ideas to get you started:

• Think about going kayaking with your family. This is a sport for people who know how to swim as you may take a lot of spills in the water. However, even if you do not know swimming, you can go kayaking provided you wear your life jacket at all times. Some of the best destinations for kayaking include Vancouver, Maine, and Nicoya Peninsula located in Costa Rica.

• If you do not mind huffing and puffing, then hiking is another outdoor activity that you can try. Walking along nature trails, climbing hills and rocks and resting near spectacular waterfalls has its own charm that is difficult to explain in words. For the best hiking experience, visit High Sierra in California, Lake Tahoe or Yukon Charles Rivers National Preserve situated in Alaska. You can also opt for international destinations like the Swiss Alps or the magnificent Inca trails in the heart of Peru.

• Try camping where you have to catch your own food. Imagine hooking your own fish and then cooking your dinner on a fire along the banks of a river? Sound exciting, doesn’t it? Make sure you select the right destination for a camping trip and do not forget to carry emergency supplies. If you are not interested in pitching your own tent, then you can also go for trip in an RV. Some of the best camping spots are Flat Tops located in Colorado, Aloha Lakes in California and Philip Edward Island.

The Simple Golf Swing Review – How to Find your Perfect Golf Swing ????

The Simple Golf Swing Review,An Honest Review About The Simple Golf Swing Review

Let me start off by saying that I was extremely leary about buying something off of the internet to help improve my golf swing. And come on, “The Simple Golf Swing”? Everyone knows a perfect golf swing like Tiger Woods is anything but simple. After reading some of the testimonials and since the price of the book was so low (I spend more on golf balls) I decided to buy the book because it is 100% guaranteed – if it sucked I would just get a refund. One of the main reasons I decided to buy the book was because I don’t have time to have a golf trainer or practice all the time. I surf pretty much any day there are waves in Florida and I have to go to college.

So I decided to buy The Simple Golf Swing and I spent a few hours reading it from front to back over and over. I decided I would just print the book out and bring it with me to the golf course in the morning so I didn’t forget anything. After a short surf session with my friends, we drove across the street to our local golf course in Melbourne Beach, FL.

Let me just put it this way, my friends were amazed at my golf swings and were convinced that I had a personal golf trainer. The first day that I had tried out the tips that I got from The Simple Golf Swing I improved my handicap from a 17 to a 13. I improved my accuracy and distance hitting the golf ball as well. This was just my first time using The Simple Golf Swing tips and they were definetly helping my golf swing.

Two days later I went back to the course and had even better results. It was a rainy day, so I wanted to test out some more tips that were in The Simple Golf Swing book. My first tee I had a great hit even with the wetness of the ball and club. I have never had a ball fly this straight and high in the rain before.

Every hole after the first was the same. I would’ve never dreamed of making such solid contact thru 18 holes. The ultimate test came on the 5th hole where I’m sitting at 200 yards out in the middle of the fairway on an uphill par 4. I grab my 3 iron which still looks new from lack of use and I nail it within 15 feet of the hole. I wound up shooting 80 and the only reason that I was that high, was club selection between my sand and pitching wedge. I was getting so much action on my sand wedge that 3 times I hit the front of the green and it sucked right back off the green. That’s the first time that has ever happened to me. To top things off my playing partner, seeing me hit so well, asked me what I’d changed. I gave him a brief lesson and within two holes he’s hitting them a far and as straight as I’ve ever seen him.

I honestly recommend The Simple Golf Swing even if you already think you are Tiger Woods. A lot of people have had success with The Simple Golf Swing and you can read more testimonials on their website.

Surfing info for a teenage girl.?

I’m wanting to learn to surf, but there are some things i’d like to know. First: What should I wear? A one-piece? A bikini? A bodysuit? What’s best for female surfers? What feels and works the best? Second: Where do I find a place/person that’ll show me how to surf around Sebastian Inlet, FL? How much would lessons cost? Third: How much do board and gear rentals cost most the time? and Fourth: I’ve boogie boarded before…would that help with surfing?
NOTE: i don’t need to be told about what a shark can do to a surfer and i’m not scared of sharks at all. The only animals that scare me are bugs and jellyfish.

1. You should wear a bikini like this: http://www.swell.com/Girls-Swimwear/BILLABONG-MUNDAKA-TOP?cs=BL with a rashguard over it. make sure to get tight and sturdy bikini bottoms so they dont fall off. This works best for me.. when im not wearing a wetsuit Because you’re in Florida, the water is warm there and you wont need a wetsuit.
2. I dont know about where exactly you will find a surf rental shop/lessons but if you go down to a couple beaches you will most likely find either a nearby surf rental shop or a surf rental truck in the beach parking lot. As for lessons, if nobody in your family knows how to surf, then you should look into lessons either online or ask the surf rental place.
3. board rentals can cost anywhere from $10 an hour to $30 an hour depending on whether the beach you’re at is very touristy or not. or you can buy a full day for $50 or so.
4. Yeah it will help you some because you are used to getting wiped out and obviously know how to swim. but it doesnt mean you will be good at surfing because surfing is completely different from boogie boarding. you need balance and coordination and agility, where as with boogie boarding you simply have to catch the wave.

also, its good that you arent afraid of sharks, bc so many people are freaked out by them but they really dont want to hurt humans. majority of shark attacks are because the shark thinks the person is a seal or the person was in their territory.

Good luck and have fun surfing!

I would like to get Surfing lessons for my birthday… but, my mom has no idea where to get surfing lessons. I would prefer MD, ‘cuz.. I kinda live there.. But VA isn’t far… NJ isn’t either, and SC is where we might go if we can find a place, in the end. So, any suggestions? Web pages?

Oh, and any idea how much it would cost? Just out of curiosity?

There are three official surf schools (one NSSIA accredited) and a number of independent instructors in Ocean City, Maryland. There is also a NSSIA accredited surf school in Bethany Beach, and one in Fenwick Island, Delaware. I mention NSSIA since only NSSIA certified instructors have met the formal training and examination criteria recognized at a national level. Most of the instructors in OC are just experienced surfers who make extra money giving lessons and don’t carry insurance or have business licenses. If you check out the NSSIA.org web site you will be able to locate accredited schools and instructors in all the places you have mentioned.

Rates vary but the average cost of a one to one and a half hour group lesson is between $65 and $75. Private one or two person lessons run up to $150 for 1 1/2 hrs. The overnight and week long camps are provided by Jack Powell in Bethany Beach. He is NSSIA certified and his lessons are held at the Delaware State beaches.

My school is Snake’s Surf School with lessons provided at 39th st. in Ocean City. I’ve put the link below. We start our lessons beginning Memorial Day weekend. Other schools are OC groms working out of K Coast and another school working out of the Endless Summer shop.

Antioch is a city in Situated Contra Costa County

Situated in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Region together the San Joaquin-Sacramento River Delta, it is a suburb of San Francisco, Oakland, and Sacramento. The city’s populace was 90,532 at the U.S. The city was founded by two brothers, William and Joseph Smith, who named the city Smith’s Landing. In 1851, the town’s new minister persuaded the citizens to change the name of the city to Antioch, for the Biblical city of Antioch, Syria.

Around 1859, coal was found in a number of places in the hills south of Antioch and coal mining formed the very first substantial company apart from farming and dairying by the inhabitants of this community. The Empire Coal Organization was formed by John C. The mines have lengthy ago ceased operation, and the railroad tracks have dug up, though the creating that served as the Antioch terminus of the railroad nevertheless stands on the corner of F Street and Fourth Street, and the grading and trestles nevertheless remain a lot as they were in individuals early days.

Smelting works had been constructed at Antioch, and a value of fifteen to twenty-five dollars per ton was paid for the ore, according to its quality. Unfortunately the copper bubble eventually burst, to the dismay of the citizens with connections. Petroleum was very first drilled for near Antioch in 1865, but not enough oil was found to make a decent profit.

The Antioch Post Office was opened in 1851, closed in 1852, re-opened in 1855, closed again in 1862, and it has operated continuously since re-opening in 1863. The town of Antioch was incorporated in 1872.

The Antioch Ledger was very first issued on March 10, 1870, and in all its forty-seven years never missed an concern. The Ledger later merged with the Contra Costa Times and printed its last concern in 2005.

Today, Antioch is mainly a “bedroom” local community, with most adults working in larger cities toward Oakland and San Francisco. The city has seen an enormous quantity of growth in the last 30 years, as the population of the Bay Region continues to grow, and real estate prices force families to move towards the outskirts of the Bay Area.

Since the real estate crash in late 2007, Antioch’s foreclosure rates frequently are amongst the nation’s highest.

The city has a municipal marina along with other private marinas, boatyards, and yacht clubs. In late 2009 Antioch received worldwide media attention following the news of kidnap victim Jaycee Lee Dugard being discovered alive there, and became the focus of several information stories regarding its 122 registered sex offenders. Only it’s not, according to a Bay Region Information Team analysis of sex offender addresses and census data.” The report concluded that the 94509 zip code ranked only 39th in the state with 1.5 sex offenders per 1000 (k), with Oakland, San Francisco, San Jose, Bethel Island, and Vallejo zip codes ranked in the top ten.

In late 2008, Western Burrowing Owls (Athene cunicularia) moved into a 25-acre housing development slated for construction called Blue Ridge, owned by Kiper Houses. Despite being listed as a Species of Special Concern (a pre-listing category under the Endangered Species Act) by the California Department of Fish and Game in 1979, California’s population declined 60% from the 1980s to the early 90’s, and continues to decline at roughly 8% per 12 months. According to The Institute for Bird Populations at Point Reyes, there has been a 50 percent decline in burrowing owl populations in the Bay Area in the last 10 to 15 many years. Their status protects them from disturbance during nesting period or killing at any time, but does not guarantee them a permanent house, as outside of breeding season, owls can be removed. In November, 2009 nearby resident Scott Artis tallied 11 owls in the area, including four pairs. Antioch is the first East Bay town to designate habitat protected by deed for burrowing owls, since residents pushed for protections for those displaced by the community middle at Prewett Playground, said local resident Dee Vieira, who spearheaded the effort. A 1992-93 survey reported no breeding burrowing owls in Napa, Marin, and San Francisco counties, and only a couple of in San Mateo and Sonoma. The Santa Clara County population is declining and restricted to a few breeding locations, leaving only Alameda, Contra Costa, and Solano counties as the remnant breeding range.
In accordance to the Public Works Department of Antioch, Antioch is home to 31 parks covering a total of 310 acres (one.three km²) with an extra 600 acres (two.4 km²) of city-owned open space. It also has 11 miles (18 km) of walking paths connecting communities to parks and schools.

Within its boundaries it has Contra Loma Regional Park, the Antioch/Oakley Regional Shoreline and Black Diamond Mines Regional Playground, and the Mokelumne Coast to Crest Trail and Delta de Anza Regional Trail. In accordance to the East Bay Regional Parks District, these 3 parks take up 6,493 acres (26.three km²); approximately 38% of Antioch’s complete land mass.

Antioch – A Total Local community
The Delta is a fantastic place to escape the quick pace of everyday life. You can camp by the drinking water in your tent or RV, swim, ski or float down the river on houseboats. The waters in the Antioch region are some of the prime striped bass and sturgeon angling waters. As the “Gateway to the Delta”, Antioch will continue as a refuge for boaters.

Antioch is a growing community situated in Contra Costa County, and has the gift of being the “Gateway to the Delta”, the point where the Sacramento and the San Joaquin Rivers come together and carry on on to the Pacific Ocean. Antioch has always been a town of homes and families. It’s downtown is filled with examples of Victorian, Spanish and early American architecture. Antioch has something for everybody.

Contra Loma Regional Playground, 776 acres located at the edge of the Black Diamond Mine protect, is a popular hiking, picnicking and swimming spot.

Antioch has two challenging 18 hole Golf Courses, with a number of courses in the surrounding communities, both public and private.

There is a water park, which was built in 1996 and a skate playground.

Count on Antioch to have some enjoyable, and to celebrate culture in its personal distinctive way. Summer time comes alive with the Contra Costa County Fair and/or the Antioch Local community 4th of July Celebration. The Contra Costa County Fair is held at our Fairground facilities every 12 months and the annual 4th of July Celebration is held in the beautiful Downtown Rivertown section of Antioch.

It now presents a wide range of entertainment possibilities such as Classic Films, Reside Theatre, Concerts, Symphony, Ballet, Comedy and is host to numerous nearby dance and community based organizations such as the Antioch Rivertown Theatre Group.

The Arts & Cultural Foundation of Antioch organizes education in graphic arts, sculpture, pottery, and performance arts for numerous age groups. It also hosts the Saturday Summer time Concert Series, Delta Blues Festival, Holiday De Lights along with other local community events.

Antioch Historical Society Museum
Operate by the Antioch Historical Society , the museum is located in the Riverview Union High College. This higher college was the first higher school constructed in Contra Costa County. It houses moving historical exhibits and provides tours of the grounds.

Rivertown Fine art Middle
It is administered by the Arts & Cultural Foundation of Antioch and was created to allow local artists additional possibilities to exhibit their art and to conduct art classes.

ESPACE Academy
As we come closer to fall and the anticipation of the coming salmon season, numerous of you have e-mailed me asking about the season dates and bag limit particulars. So, I went out and searched the Department of Fish and Game’s labyrinth of a website and found details in this document: http://nrm.dfg.ca.gov/FileHandler.ashx?DocumentID=22586

According to the document, the Feather River from 1,000 feet below the Thermalito Afterbay to the mouth opens to fishing on July 31st. The everyday bag restrict is two salmon. I’m eagerly waiting for the area between the Highway 113 Bridge and Carquinez Bridge to open. Between September 4th and October 3rd there is a daily restrict of two salmon. We’ll get into gear and tackle as we get closer to the opener.

As far as other species close to Sacramento…

Striped bass are currently a good bet in the American River. Topwater plugs in the early morning and late evening, and subsurface lures like swimbaits and jointed jerkbaits are good when the sun is up. Shad are still obtainable in the upper-most reaches of the river and are readily taking grubs and darts. Most of the fish have spawned and skinny, and some are possibly currently making their way back to the ocean, dependent on what the water temps are holding at.

Try a float as well, you won’t be disappointed with the action if they’re around.

I fished a couple of tributaries in the East Delta a few times final week from the bank, landing a couple of nice largemouth to 3 pounds. Punching mats with plastics was the ticket. Smallmouth angling ought to be great on the Old Sacramento River – look for rocks and good current flow, together with some shade nearby and you’re golden. Attempt little 3 inch grubs on a darter head, spinnerbaits, and crawdad imitation crankbaits. Just keep in mind that smallmouth have a really slow growth rate. A one-2 pound fish could be well over three many years old.

To all, have a fun time on the banks and as always – make sure you pick up following yourself so the next person can enjoy the spot you just fished.
