Redesigning Your Child’s Bedroom Using Surf Decor

If your kid is sick of his or her room looking like everyone else’s with the same old cartoon characters or superheroes, then it is time for a whole new look. Add some fun to their life by turning their room into something their friends will envy with beach and surfboard home decor.

You will of course need a surfboard or two; you can’t have a surfing theme without one. You can find used ones that are cheap at local surf shops or flea markets. Make a shelf on the wall with one with a few brackets or turn an old desk into something fun by replacing the top with a surfboard. If your child is a surfer, hang their board on the wall for when they are not using it and in the off season it decorates the room.

Think about the walls of the room, if you are good with a paint brush you can create a wave crashing effect. Paint the walls a nice blue and then using a brush and white paint, take big sweeping strokes to create a wave effect, they could even overlap onto the ceiling. If you are not handy with a brush, rag painting is something that can create a similar affect. Offset the wells with light airy white curtains with straight lines, nothing frilly or too fancy.

Beach towels are not only the perfect addition to hang on the wall or drape somewhere, but you can use one to upholster a chair in the room. No beach theme is complete without at least one beach towel in the mix.

For a great old school Surfing Decor vibe, look for some signs to hang on the walls, maybe even the door. Online or in the local surf shops you’ll be able to find a lot of vintage beach signs if your child prefers those to the newer styles today. If your kid loves posters, a poster or two of a surfing scene or the beach will dress up the walls too.

Add a bit of fun with novelty items. You can find a variety of different surf and beach related items that would match the room perfectly. A surfboard print light switch plate, a surfboard shaped wall clock and a few surfboard wall hooks for their coats and hats are just a few of the very cool things out there to choose from.

And nothing pulls a room completely together like the right bedding. Today, bedding is all about design and you’ll find a variety of different choices when it comes to surfing and the beach. There will be flashy colorful ocean scenes to subtle and calming beach scenes to choose from.

About the Author

There are many different ways to add surf decor to a room to make it stunning and fun. And, after you are done, your kid will feel like it is summertime already and be ready to grab his board and head out to catch a wave. To get started, research online to find the newest beach decorating items.

new teen bedroom design. any suggestionss?

ok so im a girl, 14, about to be 15. i have a small bedroom at the moment that i absoultely hate. i got my parents to agree to let me move in the bonus room of my house. it is verryyy big. so i’ll have lots of room. i have a whole theme in my room im in now, but i dont want as much of a theme this time. i still kinda want a theme but not so much that i cant add like posters n pictures n that kinda stuff on my wall.

im really into rock music, playing gutair, surfing, the beach, and peace/hippie stuff. just random stuff like that. (im not exactually a really girly girl) lol.

but anywayzzz, i need help on deciding how 2 decorate it. likee what colors do u think the walls should be, what kinda bedding n furniture n just stuff like that.
just tell me what ya think! plzz helpp.

ohhh and if u have a website that shows some kool designs pleaseee tell me it or give me the link. i do alot better when i can actually see pictures of things.

play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the “painted” rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

http://www.sherwin.com/visualizer/

Since you like the beach, then I think it would be ultra cool to do a SandScape faux finish on the wall. It has the texture of sand. Under “explore colors,” click the cirlce that says “by collection” and then choose “faux finishes” from the drop-down menu. Then scroll over to the SandScapes. I love the color called “pumpkin spice” (# 7178).

You can also take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

http://www.roomvues.com/

You can get color suggestions & they’ll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.

And here’s heaps of cool funky retro bedding:

What to do on Your Next Big Island Vacation

You’ve decided that you want to visit the Big Island for your next Hawaiian vacation destination and have an idea of where you are going to stay, but what will you do when you get there?

With 2,028 square miles of land surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, planning your itinerary can become an intimidating task. There are dozens of activities to choose from!

A no-brainer approach when visiting the Island of Hawaii is to make a trip to the beach. Black sand or not, you’ll be in awe at how beautiful the Big Island’s coastline can be. Take up a surf lesson on the west side in Kona, or rent some snorkeling gear and explore the colorful reefs in the east side. Just want to veg out? Slap on that sunscreen, grab a good read or two, and work on your tan.

For the history buffs, there are lots of places important in Hawaii’s culture that you can visit and soak up lots of information. Up in north Kohala on the Kona side of the Big Island, you will find King Kamehameha I’s birthplace. In nearby Kailua-Kona, you can visit Mokuaikaua Church – the very first missionary church that was established in Hawaii.

See the Big Island from a Bird’s eye view! Hilo helicopter tours or Kona helicopter tours are a great alternative to your usual tourist activities. Otherwise hard-to-reach areas by car or foot can easily be viewed from up in the sky with a helicopter ride. Be amazed as you hover close by to cascading waterfalls, luscious green forests, and views of the entire crystal-clear waters off the coasts.

Blue Hawaiian Helicopters is one of Hawaii’s largest and most dependable helicopter tour companies, and they have all the tools you need to help you choose the perfect Hilo helicopter tour or Kona helicopter tour. On their website, each helicopter ride has an easy to read map that indicates which areas are covered in your tour. You won’t regret cruising the Hawaiian skies with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters! Book your flight today!

Where on the big island can a person get surf lessons for a child?

There aren’t great surfing areas on BI for kids. THe beaches are weak and rocky and the island is too newly formed.

Try windward side, near Hilo.

The big day has arrived – a holiday in a far away foreign country. You are all packed and ready to go. You have your passport, plane ticket, and some way to pay for your next few weeks. You are nervous an anxious and ready to go. Here are a few pointers to make your long flight a little more pleasant.

Before you go.

Pack as light as possible. You should have no more than two suitcases and one carry-on. If you are going to a tropical climate it will be even easier packing shorts and T-shirts. And, you can always pick up some new clothes at your destination.

Ensure that you have all of your medications and copies of your prescriptions. Check on the latest rules for carrying liquids in your carry-on. The rules and regulations change with the weather – so keep current.

Re-confirm your flight. My last trip was almost delayed by a day or two as a typhoon hit Taiwan and my flight from Hawaii was going through Taipei. I scrambled and got my flight changed to one that went through Tokyo, Japan and managed to get to Thailand as scheduled. I didn’t check ahead of time and fortunately was able to get on a different flight. I learned my lesson. While re-confirming, get your seat assignment. I prefer exit rows for more legroom.

Double check that you have everything. I use a checklist and check it 2 or 3 times before I go. Really make sure that you have your passport, tickets and some way to pay – cash, ATM card, credit card or traveler’s checks. A combination is a good way to make sure that you have alternative means of paying. If you are going to a country that has its own currency, plan to exchange a day or two’s worth at the destination airport. Don’t change money in your home country – you will get a terrible rate.

At your home airport

Plan to get to your airport about 3 hours ahead of your flight departure. Check-in and security lines can be long and slow. Have your travel documents ready to show wherever you go. Again, check on the rules for what you can bring with your on the flight – especially in your carry-on.

I always eat at the airport before I fly. Things have gotten better and cheaper at airports and I prefer to have a meal in me and not rely on the airline food. I also bring some trail mix with me to munch on during the flight.

Take advantage of the duty free shops. Get your booze, cigarettes and other goodies for tax-free prices. Check the limitations at your destination country before you buy 6 bottles of whiskey and find out you are only allowed to bring in one. Also check to see if you can carry liquids on flights that have a layover or two. You may have to make your purchase at the layover before your last leg.

You can kill time playing with any electronic toys you own. Wireless access is usually available in the airports so you can check email and surf. You can also listen to some music if you have an Ipod of something similar. Wireless can be found in most airports right outside the Airline lounges. You don’t have to be a member to sit outside and tap into their unsecured network.

On the flight

Try to relax and sleep as much as possible. The time zone changes and jet lag will be lessened. Avoid alcohol and drink plenty of water, especially on longer flights. Dehydration comes easily on long flights in dry cabin air. You can drink booze when you arrive.

Read and watch a movie to kill time. Do some of the puzzles in the on-board magazines. Keep busy as much as possible. Have some mints and gum to alleviate the air pressure during take-off and landing.

I usually avoid the main course of the airline food. I do eat the salad, bread and dessert. The main meal is rarely edible. This is why I eat before I go and eat my own snacks.

You will have to fill out a customs declaration form on the plane to turn in to the Custom’s officer. Do this on the plane and stick it with your passport.

Arrival

Head out of the plane as quickly as possible. You and everyone else will have to go through Immigration/Customs – so the race is on. Hopefully, you were given instructions before deplaning. If not, just follow the signs. Don’t stop to smoke or use the bathroom. Get in the shortest line and have your passport ready. Keep a copy of your boarding pass with you, just in case.

Be pleasant and polite to the Custom’s officer, get your passport stamped, turn in your customs declaration, and head for the luggage carousels. Make sure you have your own luggage and find the currency exchange.

Change enough money to last you a day or two. ATMs are conveniently located around the world, so a debit card is the easiest way to get local currency. It can be a little more risky using a credit card. Get your money and head for the exit.

Find the taxi or bus line and head to your hotel. You made it! Now, enjoy your vacation.

Are there any indoor surfing on the east coast of the US?

I want to learn to surf, but it’s pretty cold on the east coast right now. My dad was telling me about indoor surfing lessons. Does anyone know anything about them, and/or possibly any locations? Thanks!

Indoor surfing isn’t surfing. It may be fun, but it is nothing like surfing.Surfing is an ocean sport, that should only be practiced by persons who are already competent ocean swimmers. Swimming in a pool is neat, but it’s not ocean swimming, with undertows, rip tides and sometimes BIG waves. I have seen lots of great pool swimmers get rescued. So, my first tip on how to surf is to be at home in the ocean. There are way too many dangerous people in the water now. They are a danger to themselves and other surfers, don’t join their ranks. We don’t know too much about you. Maybe you already have the ocean skills. You will have plenty of time to start when the weather warms up.

Please don’t pay any attention to the jimman. Perhaps he plays at surfing, but after 45 years of surfing, I have seen too many people get in trouble because they don’t know their limitations and really don’t understand the ocean. I rescued too many expert “pool” swimmers not to understand the difference.

Cruising the California Central Coast From San Francisco to your Carmel Vacation Rental

An excellent approach to get some flavor during your northern to central california coast drive, would be to commence in San Francisco and end in Carmel. Make sure you reserve one of the numerous great Carmel Vacation Rentals before you start off on your journey. You need to begin the first day or two in San Francisco in case you prepare to take at least a week. Remain in San Francisco for a minimum of a long day to see all the major sights. These include Fisherman’s wharf, Coit Tower, Golden Gate Park, Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. Undoubtedly, be sure to dine from you choice of several of the great restaurants within the city. Harry Denton’s is locally famous for ambience and an amazing view of the entire city from above. After you leave the SF, travel down hwy 1 along the ocean passing Mission Beach and for that next hr you’ll be awed by the gorgeous shoreline from Pacifica to Half Moon Bay to Santa Cruz. A couple of miles just before Santa Cruz is Waddell Creek plus a great spot to turn off and get a break. Waddell Creek is world famous in the kite boarding/wind Surfing community. Across the street from this beach is also the entrance to Big Basin park which still has some giant old growth redwoods. You’ll now be getting into Santa Cruz or Surf City as its commonly referred to as. In the event you want to slap on a wetsuit and give surfing a try, then head down to Cowell’s Beach by the Boardwalk for the best beginner waves.

Here you are able to rent longboards, wetsuits and even a lesson if you’d like. During low tide, the waves at Cowell’s is a perfect rolling mushy wave that is easy and forgiving to catch. This type of wave is called a party wave as a bunch of people can get up on it and ride. Its a load of fun. Following this you’ll be able to cruise a lot more beautiful coastline down to Monterey. In Monterey you can spend some time at the Monterey Bay Aquarium or take a drive on 17 mile drive. The aquarium has close up views of many of the creatures that live off the shores and 17 mile drive tours along the coast interweaving the beautiful coast, wildlife and world famous golf courses. The next and last stop on this journey is Carmel. Carmel by the Sea is very laid back and strolling about town feels so right when you’re there. The gorgeous white sand seashore with views of Peeble Seaside lies at the end of the downtown strip. There are many Carmel Vacation Rentals to select from when staying here. It offers you much more space than a hotel and is a fantastic way to keep a large group together enjoying each others company.

There are also Carmel Cottages in the Carmel Highlands, Carmel condos downtown or expansive ocean estates seaside. There’s sure to be a fantastic fit for any group. Following cruising the California coast, kicking back again in Carmel permits you to get all that you have taken in and smile.

Even the most negative anti-internet people out there even believe that a huge portion of business revenue is be derived from online transactions, or offline transactions as a result of seeing the product or service online beforehand.

Sometimes I wonder why people even hesitate about creating an online presence, why? nowadays the cost of setting up a website from scratch is extremely, and I mean extremely cheap.

Don’t be quick to dismiss your product or service as one that doesn’t lend itself to the online environment, people all over the world are selling all kinds of goods online, the product doesn’t even have to be tangible, it could be selling an e-book on how to make hats!

I know of many local businesses who don’t put all their efforts into selling over the internet but they do have some kind of online presence, whether it’s a small brochure website which simply contains an inviting homepage, about us and contact page, this type of website is great for small local companies who offer a local service, for example a ‘local car valeting service’.

The point here is to have something on the web so you can be found by potential customers or even partners etc; even if your website simply contains your contact detail with a brief description you can still generate leads and business.

Below are a few more reasons why you need a website

1. Build Customer Relationships

A website is a great place to build customer relationships – this can be done extremely effectively using email. Once you have a consumers name and e-mail address they could be a customer for life if they are treated well.

2. Lead Generation

Let’s face it we all want to make money online, and the sole intention of many online organisations is to make money, and turn visitors into customers into loyal customer who use their products or services again and again.

Creating a website, attracting visitors and funnelling this traffic are a great lead generation technique. A local organisation I worked with on a website visitor conversion campaign found they increased lead generation by 800% by effectively utilizing the powers of creating an effective online presence and marketing their website through a variety of channels.

3. To compete against your competitors

Without having an online presence could mean you are missing out on a lot of potential business – meaning your competitors have a distinct advantage just by having an online presence. Effectively leverage the power of the internet and get ahead of competitors by learning by their mistakes and doing what they do better.

4. To provide business information
A huge proportion of internet users use the internet to find local businesses or a product or service in general. Using the web to do this, is a lot cheaper than directory enquiries and a hell of a lot quicker than using a telephone book or directory.

A website containing your business information is available 24 hours a day, this can be printed and can be bookmarked to return to later. Furthermore potential customers can contact you using the desired communication channel you display.

5. Global Reach
Ok, a lot of people use the advantage of having a global reach to say things like “you can sell your products to people overseas” and “people like to buy the latest and best products”, yes of course you can but you already know that. Having a global reach means that people from all over the world can buy your products, however again it doesn’t have to be a tangible product it could be an e-book or a series of videos.

6. Open 24/7 365 days/year

Your shop is always open so to speak. Visitors can enter your shop any time of the day – before 9am and after 5pm – because out of these hours are when people tend to surf the internet, a perfect reason why you should have an online presence

7. Cost Effective Advertising

Offline advertising generally has an extremely low conversion rate. Leaflets and brochures can be quote costly and once these have been printed and distributed and more often that not thrown away this communication channel is dead.

However using a website as a communication will always be online; this cannot be thrown away or discarded. Offline Marketing could be looked upon as a ‘push’ marketing mechanism, however having a website uses a ‘pull’ mechanism, and customers search for your services and find your website.

Think of a website as a full colour interactive brochure which you can add to whenever you like. Reduce advertising costs by using just one effective call to action / message and promoting your website address e.g. learn more about this product on our website, for more information visit http://www.domain-name.co.uk.

And finally on this one alteration to your website can be done quickly and free, this is a completely different story with marketing literature such as posters or flyers.

8. To Project a professional image – not @hotmail.co.uk

Lots of very small business nowadays has some kind of online presence. Nothing looks more unprofessional than when a company refers to one of their points of contact being your-name@hotmail.co.uk or your-name@yahoo.co.uk. This says too many consumers that the business either couldn’t afford or wasn’t bothered about investing in their company brand image, would it to be nicer to use a more user friendly and professional email such as support@your-domain.co.uk or contact@your-domain.co.uk, this gives the consumers the feeling they are dealing with a successful organisation and that their query or contact is being deal with a customer support / care team.

9. Your website can make you money – sell your products and services

Firstly before I go into this one I would like to tell you two things, I recently attended a Search Engine Optimisation seminar in London and In one of the exhibition hall I engaged in a conversation with a middle aged woman from Scotland, after discussing the topic of the seminar we were about to watch she revealed to me that she found her online success selling, get ready for it, selling books on how to make straw hats, she uncovered that she was able to quite her full time job 3 years ago to peruse her online career selling books full time, but without the full time 9 – 5 or later house, she found she could happily sit back and work 1 – 2 hours per day checking email and performing general maintenance on her website.

I think this goes to show that you need to be a retail outlet selling top brand labels in clothing to become and entrepreneur online.

A website can be a great tool in not only promoting your products but selling them to, your shop cannot be available 24 hours a day but your website can, and its probably worth mentioning again that people do tend to surf the internet most when they return from work, so why not reinforce your brand online as well as offline.

Having a website is a great way of automating your business, whilst you are having an evening off or even sleeping you website can be generating brand awareness, generating leads but more importantly generating sales and revenue for your company.

10. Word of mouth advertising

With the growing online community and social networking going on nowadays it has never been easier to like minded people to communicated, but more importantly communicate your website address or even drop it into an email. Its very common nowadays that a website address could be posted up onto a website discussion forum by a happy customer and you could expect to receive hundreds even thousand of visitors to your website from that one forum post or conversation about your company and the products and services you offer.

11. Effectively reach new markets

An overwhelming amount of people now have access to the internet whether it is through their mobile phone, pc, laptop or game console. You really can’t afford to miss out on all these potential customers. It may be that someone didn’t mean or intend to land on your website but people surf the internet in many different ways, more often than not people often refine their searches on search engine again and again until they get to the website they want, they may begin searching for “car wax” and throughout their journey they may find that they done actually want “car wax” anymore what they want now is a “car valeting service”, this is common with website users in that they do end up on a website looking at products or services they didn’t intend to look at in the first place.

12. Test the market

Many organisations at some point would like to know how their target marketing are going to react to their new product or service but are afraid of investing large amount of money into creating the product and then be disappointed by the lack of interest or enthusiasm for it. A great way to “test the market” is to expose this new product or service on your website. A typical idea of this would be if a training consultancy wished to offer a new training programme, by adding a small paragraph on the homepage of your website detailing a brief introduction into the course followed by a “click here for more information” or “contact us to register your interest”, by tracking the number of click through or page views or even email enquiries can tell you how your market has reacted to your new offering, this can then determine whether the launch of this new product is feasible. You can even go a step further and test your new found marketing on piloting product prices etc.

13. Customer Support

Provide a support area or knowledge based for your customers. This can become a hub for all your customers’ queries and questions, assistance on products, provide a variety of ways to be contacted, alternatively use a frequently asked questions to answer the most popular questions or queries – all of this can be done without using staff time, employing new resources or without even answering a phone.

14. Advertising Seasonal Offers / Special Offers

A website and having the right data capture in place is a great way to tunnel traffic into an email list. Effectively collecting customers email addresses gives you the power to contact them when you want to tell them something. You may have a seasonal offer that you wish to communicate, effective email marketing is a great way to build relationships, generate leads (by offering a free report or discount voucher in exchange for their email address, and more importantly convert leads into customers through the use tailored email that meet the demands of your customers.

Building up an intelligent database can have a massive impact on consumer retention and loyalty, knowing that Mrs Smith loves to buy books by a certain author gives you an opportunity to up sell and cross sell other books by that author / similar authors and also attempt to sell items that other people have purchased – hence giving the consumer exactly what they want, when they want it a step on from this is to build an incentivised loyalty program e.g. buy this book and get another book for half price, all of this is possible.
Every one of your customers can be alerted about this special offer at the click of a button, and compared to the cost of offline marketing this is extremely low cost with a higher conversion rate and an even higher return on investment.

Surfers Paradise is the commercial heart of the Australian Gold Coast. Here you will find shopping, night clubs, and lots of live entertainment. This is a busy hopping place that attracts families, teens and 40 somethings alike. The beaches are best in the morning as the high rise buildings shade the beach in the afternoon sun. The beaches are not the main attraction in Surfers any more. If you are looking for a nice quiet beach, this is not the place, head a bit further north.

The main drag through Surfers is Cavill Avenue. Cavill ends at the beach or seaside. Orchid avenue is the hot spot for all the bars and night clubs. Surfers Paradise is split on either side by the Gold Coast Highway.

Although Cavill Mall is the recognized centre of Surfers, new up market shopping precinct Circle on Cavill is the new heart of Surfers Paradise and can be found bounded by cavil Ave, Surfers Paradise Blvd and Ferny Ave.Japanese visitors will be pleased to find that most street signs are written in both English and Japanese ” a reflection of the strong attraction the Gold Coast has for Japan. Surfers have many sights worth visiting apart from the beach. Infinity is a walk-through maze cleverly disguised by an elaborate sound and light show which is a winner for the children. At 230 metres high, you wont miss the Q1 building. The Observation deck at the top has 360 degree panorama of the Gold Coast and its hinterland. On a clear day you can see north to Brisbane and south to Byron Bay. Wander around the glass-enclosed deck and youll learn other interesting facts about the building .There is also a caf an comfy lounge chairs so there is no need to hurry back down to the ground.

All along the beach you can find kayaking and surfing schools. These schools cater to beginners as well as intermediates. The cost is anywhere from $40 to $50 for a two hour lesson. For a more adrenaline pumping experience, try the Jetboat Extreme. This turbo charged twin jet powered custom jet boat propels youn across the water at amazing speeds. Bungee jumping is another heart pounding experience. Adrenaline park offers many bungee type experiences for the brave at heart.

For something a bit less crazy, don’t forget to go whale watching between June and November or go on a three hour horse riding trek through beautiful rain forest and river scenery in the Numinbah Valley,230 kms south of Nerang.

For the family trip of a lifetime book a reservation at Gold Coast accommodation.
Gold Coast hotels offer something for every one in every budget and star level.

im going to naples in august are there and surf spots around there and i need places for lessons.

Wrong coast. You might get lucky and get some waves though, but I wouldn’t bet on it. Maybe there will be some tropical activity in the gulf to help you out.

The recurve bow is the exclusive bow of the Olympics. The recurve name seems to come from the fact that the bow curves back out back again (or recurves). When the bow is strung, the string touches a section of the bow. The second curve goes against the natural curve of the bow and this gives the recurve bow greater energy. This extra energy due to the curve allows for a recurve bow to give more energy than a simple bow of the same length. This comes in handy for archers who can benefit from traveling with a bow that is not quite so difficult to carry through brush or some other conditions where length could be more of a problem.

The recurve bow can range in length from 48 inches to 70 inches. A typical target bow is around 66 inches long. For the sake of stability it is recommended that your recurve bow not be less than 58 inches. Choosing a bow length depends a lot on your draw length. If your draw length is less than 28 inches, you should choose a bow that is between 62 and 66 inches and if your draw length is more than 28 inches, get a bow that is between 66 inches and 70 inches.

Well that is great to know, you say. But how can I figure out my draw length? The easiest way is to measure the length of your arm span and divide that number by 2.5. Get a friend to help you. Spread out your arms, palms facing forward. Do not reach out by stretching but just hold out your arms and turn your palms so that they are facing forward. Have your friend measure from the tip of one middle finger to the tip of the other middle finger. Now divide by 2.5. The result is your draw length.

There are a couple of hints to help you know that you are right in your measurement. The length of your arm span is about the same as your height. If you are 5 foot 6 inches (or 66 inches) tall than your arm span will be about the same. If this is your arm span, then your draw length is 66 divided by 2.5 or 26.4. When you go to buy a recurve bow, you can double check on whether the size of the recurve bow is right for you. The people in the archery store would have a good idea if you have measured your arm span correctly.

Experienced archers know that there is only one place for discounted new and used recurve bows online:

The Archery Armory

Quirky Interiors

At last… breathe a sigh of relief …home interiors are starting to move away from the bland and homogeneous minimalism that has dominated the interiors magazines for years. Instead we are seeing a move towards a more individualistic approach that uses bespoke designs, hand-crafted items and best of all demonstrates a sense of humour. I am currently redecorating my living room and I plan to take full advantage of all this vibrancy by using reclaimed materials and furniture, quirky
and wall murals and some wonderfully imaginative accessories. Firstly, the wall decor needs to be sorted out. I still love the light airy feel that was such a big part of the minimalist look so I have opted for off-white walls as a backdrop for everything else. To add some much needed character, I have sourced some wonderful
online. I’ve fallen for a pink stag’s head which will make a fantastic feature above the fireplace. I simply can’t resist an amazing wallpaper mural called Junglaland by Wall & Deco which features a huge pink orchid stretching across the wall with a damask background. I am going to put this on the wall opposite the fireplace. Secondly, the window treatments. This is one of the more difficult areas to get right but I was lucky enough to visit France this summer and find some amazing curtains in a shop called Madura. They have a morrocan design that is cut out of the fabric and can be used as panels on the wall as well as in front of the window. The sofa has been my one big luxury as I have been craving a bright-coloured patchwork pattern for ages and managed to find a company that re-upholster second-hand sofas in beautiful patchwork fabrics. My favourite accessories are some shelves that are disguised as books called SelfShelf. The book title is Ceci n’est pas un livre (‘this is not a book’) so this is postmodernism in action! I still need to source lighting but with all the amazing choices out there I’m having a whale of a time! The huge array of wall decals,
, furniture and unusual accessories available online is mind boggling but my advice is be daring, be bold and get surfing!
