Acapulco’s Beaches – Something for Everybody

Acapulco has some of the best beaches in Mexico, if not in the world. From Pie de la Cuesta to the bay itself, then out to Puerto Marques and Diamante, and on as far as Barra Vieja, Acapulco offers miles and miles of beaches, each with a personality of its own.

The Pacific Ocean beaches can have strong waves, and are fun for those who like hearty water sports. Surfers particularly like Bonfil and Tres Vidas — beaches east of Revolcadero in the Diamond Zone. Inside the bay the waves are usually gentle, particularly in the “traditional zone,” which is like a cove within a cove. The “Golden Zone” on the east side of Acapulco’s bay, from Parque Papagayo to the Naval Base, has marvelous water, sand, crowds and restaurants. In the middle of this is Condesa Beach, party central during Spring Break.

Here is a rapid tour of the highlights:

Pie de la Cuesta

Pie de la Cuesta (“foot of the slope”) goes on for miles of yellow sandy beach. Behind is Coyuca Lagoon, where you will find peace, nature, and a few good places to eat. This may be the best beach on the Pacific for watching the sun sink into the ocean at day’s end. The waves can be strong here. Usually uncrowded, Pie de la Cuesta is a favorite of couples.

Playas Caleta & Caletilla

Playas Caleta and its near twin, Caletilla, are Acapulco’s original and most traditional beaches. The aquarium and museum, Magico Mundo Marino, lies between them. Here there is food and music and lots of family activity. The waters are calm. Originally the beach of the Hollywood stars of the 50’s and 60’s, Caleta and Caletilla now appeal to tourists and locals alike, especially those with kids.

Roqueta and Marin Beaches

Take a water taxi or a glass-bottom boat from Caleta to Isla Roqueta, where two beaches await. Playa Roqueta and Playa Marin are quiet, rustic beaches in this nature preserve. They are a must for the ecotourist or anyone who wants an escape. Playa Roqueta is near where the boats dock. Playa Marin is a remote and undeveloped beach that can only be reached by making a small hike to the other side of the island.

Playa Angosta

Playa Angosta (“narrow beach”) is where locals go to avoid tourist crowds. This short strip of beach is on the Pacific Coast, between two tall rocky outcroppings, one inlet east of La Quebrada, where the cliff divers perform. From mid-August to mid-April you can see the sun set into the Pacific. It’s the only beach in Acapulco proper that offers such a view. Several local seafood restaurants serve up the food, beer and soft drinks.

Playas Manzanillo & Honda

These neighbors are on the bayside between Caleta and downtown. Look for the lighthouse or the marina. Several traditional seafood restaurants can be found on these very popular beaches. Fishermen moor their boats near here, and there’s a boat graveyard nearby.

Playa Tlacopanocha

Tlacopanocha is a popular beach at the end of the town pier (“the Malecón”). Here you can watch the cruise ships come and go during the season, as the marine terminal is nearby.

Playas Las Hamacas, Tamarindos, Hornos, Hornitos

These four beaches extend from the Marine Terminal near downtown to Parque Papagayo. They are the remaining beaches of Acapulco’s so-called “Nautical Zone” or “Traditional Zone.” Playa Las Hamacas is wide and flat, more visited by fishermen than sunbathers. Tamarindos and Hornos are long beaches, extending up the bay to the east. Large coconut palms line the entrances from the sidewalk along the Costera. They have excellent beach restaurants, umbrellas, loungers, tables, and calm waves. There is lots of space for the kids to run around. These beaches are mostly enjoyed by families. Hornitos is the last beach before the beginning of Acapulco’s “Golden Zone.” It is right in front of the town’s main flag pole at the entrance to Parque Papagayo.

Playa Morro

Playa Morro, just off the traffic circle at the Diana statue, is a transition from the traditional zone (more family-oriented) to the party focus of Condesa Beach farther east. Just off shore in the water is a hilly island (a “morro”), so it’s easy to find. Currents here can be trickier than at the beaches closer to downtown.

Playa Condesa

Playa Condesa is right in the middle of Acapulco’s “Golden Zone” (Parque Papagayo to the Naval Base). A big rock (called “La Redonda”) is just a few yards offshore. Condesa has lots of lively bars and dance clubs, and there is always a crowd, whether it be day or night. This is the most happening place for partiers, especially during “Spring Break.” A segment of Condesa (below “Beto’s”) is a popular beach for gays. The water can get choppy around the offshore rock formations, but there is always something happening up on the sand.

Icacos Beach

Playa Icacos, the Golden Zone’s second most happening beach, is much wider than Condesa from sea to back wall, with clear water and clean sand. Like Condesa, all sorts of water activities can be arranged, like waterskiing, jet-skis and rides. The hotels and condos of Costa Azul provide most of the sunbathers, and so the crowd tends to be a bit older than at Condesa and somewhat more upscale than in the traditional zone.

Playa Pichilingue

This beach is inaccessible to most people. It’s for guests at the Camino Real and residents of the gated community surrounding it. Waters are calm, as it is on the shore of the small bay of Puerto Marques.

Playa Puerto Marques & Majahua

Residents of Acapulco Diamante do not hesitate to say that Playa Puerto Marques and Playa Majahua are the best beaches in town — especially in late morning and early afternoon. Small by comparison with bayside beaches, they seem cozier and more tropical, as they are set in the lush mangroves around Puerto Marques. The waters are calm. Tourists do not seem to flock to these beaches, preferring the grander expanses of Playas Diamante and Revolcadero. Good shopping and good eating are also right at hand.

Playa Revolcadero

Playa Revolcadero (“tumbler beach”) and Playa Diamante are really one long and wide strip of sand on the Pacific Ocean near the Fairmont Hotels (Acapulco Princess & Pierre Marques) and the Mayan Palace. These are three of Acapulco’s most luxurious resorts. Here the chic and the fashionable come to enjoy the sun. Serious swimmers enjoy taking on the large waves that come rolling in. Unlike the waters on the bayside, the undertow at Revolcadero can be very strong.

Playa Larga

Playa Larga (“long beach”) seems to go on forever, east of Revolcadero, and continuing towards Barra Vieja, miles away. The airport property lies behind part of it. This is a place for ecotourism, or quiet retreats back to nature. There are campsites, a nearby hatchery for sea turtles and a couple of places to spend the night. There are not too many services (like umbrellas and chairs), few restaurants, and no vendors. Access by automobile is recommended (no public transportation).

Playa Bonfil

Past Playa Larga is Playa Bonfil, also very quiet and unoccupied. Here the waves get strong enough to provide decent surfing. It has a sandy bottom. Waves come right and left. Not much is there in the way of services.

Tres Vidas

Playa Tres Vidas (three-lives beach) is yet farther down the coast from Acapulco Diamante and almost to Barra Vieja. An exclusive golf resort has been built here. Very few visitors come, other than guests from the boutique hotel at the golf club, lovers and surfers.

Barra Vieja

At the far east of Acapulco, about 20 miles away, is a fishing village called Barra Vieja (old [sand]bar). Here you will find several restaurants and beach clubs, some of them absolutely first rate. They offer parking, showers, and beach facilities. You can eat, drink, sleep in the hammocks, swim in the pool, sun on the beach — whatever you like. It is perhaps as close to a real tropical paradise as you can get these days. Be sure to choose your beach club carefully or get a recommendation.

Should I stay in Ft Lauderdale or Cocoa Beach?

Only going to be staying a couple days. Not looking for a wild party, but still a fun atmosphere, and most importantly nice beaches for swimming and hanging out (not too interested in surfing). Not really concerned about the cost, just wondering if one place is distinctly better and why. Thanks!

Cocoa Beach has a lot more to do and its close to Kennedy Space Center. Its also close to Orlando. Cocoa Beach has better beaches and less crowded too. Won’t cost you an arm and a leg to stay either.

Are there any indoor surfing on the east coast of the US?

I want to learn to surf, but it’s pretty cold on the east coast right now. My dad was telling me about indoor surfing lessons. Does anyone know anything about them, and/or possibly any locations? Thanks!

Indoor surfing isn’t surfing. It may be fun, but it is nothing like surfing.Surfing is an ocean sport, that should only be practiced by persons who are already competent ocean swimmers. Swimming in a pool is neat, but it’s not ocean swimming, with undertows, rip tides and sometimes BIG waves. I have seen lots of great pool swimmers get rescued. So, my first tip on how to surf is to be at home in the ocean. There are way too many dangerous people in the water now. They are a danger to themselves and other surfers, don’t join their ranks. We don’t know too much about you. Maybe you already have the ocean skills. You will have plenty of time to start when the weather warms up.

Please don’t pay any attention to the jimman. Perhaps he plays at surfing, but after 45 years of surfing, I have seen too many people get in trouble because they don’t know their limitations and really don’t understand the ocean. I rescued too many expert “pool” swimmers not to understand the difference.

Surfers Paradise is the commercial heart of the Australian Gold Coast. Here you will find shopping, night clubs, and lots of live entertainment. This is a busy hopping place that attracts families, teens and 40 somethings alike. The beaches are best in the morning as the high rise buildings shade the beach in the afternoon sun. The beaches are not the main attraction in Surfers any more. If you are looking for a nice quiet beach, this is not the place, head a bit further north.

The main drag through Surfers is Cavill Avenue. Cavill ends at the beach or seaside. Orchid avenue is the hot spot for all the bars and night clubs. Surfers Paradise is split on either side by the Gold Coast Highway.

Although Cavill Mall is the recognized centre of Surfers, new up market shopping precinct Circle on Cavill is the new heart of Surfers Paradise and can be found bounded by cavil Ave, Surfers Paradise Blvd and Ferny Ave.Japanese visitors will be pleased to find that most street signs are written in both English and Japanese ” a reflection of the strong attraction the Gold Coast has for Japan. Surfers have many sights worth visiting apart from the beach. Infinity is a walk-through maze cleverly disguised by an elaborate sound and light show which is a winner for the children. At 230 metres high, you wont miss the Q1 building. The Observation deck at the top has 360 degree panorama of the Gold Coast and its hinterland. On a clear day you can see north to Brisbane and south to Byron Bay. Wander around the glass-enclosed deck and youll learn other interesting facts about the building .There is also a caf an comfy lounge chairs so there is no need to hurry back down to the ground.

All along the beach you can find kayaking and surfing schools. These schools cater to beginners as well as intermediates. The cost is anywhere from $40 to $50 for a two hour lesson. For a more adrenaline pumping experience, try the Jetboat Extreme. This turbo charged twin jet powered custom jet boat propels youn across the water at amazing speeds. Bungee jumping is another heart pounding experience. Adrenaline park offers many bungee type experiences for the brave at heart.

For something a bit less crazy, don’t forget to go whale watching between June and November or go on a three hour horse riding trek through beautiful rain forest and river scenery in the Numinbah Valley,230 kms south of Nerang.

For the family trip of a lifetime book a reservation at Gold Coast accommodation.
Gold Coast hotels offer something for every one in every budget and star level.

surfing in florida?

im going to naples in august are there and surf spots around there and i need places for lessons.

Wrong coast. You might get lucky and get some waves though, but I wouldn’t bet on it. Maybe there will be some tropical activity in the gulf to help you out.

10 Specialty Summer Camps For Kids and Teens

10 Specialty Summer Camps For Kids and Teens

You’ll be surprised and inspired by these unique ideas!

With more than 6 million kids in the U.S attending camp every summer, camp remains one of America’s favorite pastimes. Yet there is a new camp experience that has dramatically increased in popularity over the last decade – and that is the “specialty” camp. Never before have kids and teens had so many one-of-a-kind camp options to choose from.

While traditional camps offer programs that encourage kids to try a variety of activities, a specialty camp focuses on one topic – or a few related topics. There are now thousands of unique (and sometimes unusual) day and overnight summer camps inspiring children and teens to learn more about what they love.

After considerable research, we’ve gathered a list of some of America’s most unique and rewarding specialty summer camps. Take a look:

ACTING FOR FILM CAMP

Young Actors Camp
Location: Hollywood, California
Ages: 7-19

For kids and teens who dream of acting for the silver screen, this camp is the ultimate learning experience. At Young Actors Camp, campers are taught the tools-of-the-trade for succeeding in Hollywood’s film and television acting industries – and the word on the street is, they have a great time doing so.

This overnight summer camp offers four programs to choose from that include pre-professional activities such as taking headshots, writing a resume, building auditioning skills and improving film-acting techniques.

And what really excites kids is their chance to be in a real Hollywood movie. All YAC campers visit working movie sets and meet real Hollywood movie stars (who come by camp to offer advice and technique tips). This is a true chance of a lifetime for young actors dying to get a glimpse into the world they dream of succeeding in – and after attending Young Actors Camp, kids have a much better chance of doing so.

Young Actors Camp is the only summer camp experience that can lead to a young actor moving to Los Angeles for real work opportunities; and YAC will guide actors and families through the transitional period of this complicated, yet rewarding, process.

SURF CAMP

WB Surf Camp
Location: Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina
Ages: 6-18

This seriously radical camp is a dream-come-true for kids and teens (and adults!) who want to learn how to surf. WB Surf Camp offers a wide variety of summer camp options. From day and overnight camps to advanced private lessons and international surf tours, WB Surf Camp does it all.

WB teaches kids how to predict, select and ride waves, but they also educate Surfing beginners about ocean safety (rip current identification, surf and sun advisories and first-aid), coastal environments, marine life and ocean dynamics.

At this full immersion camp, kids gain knowledge, confidence and surfing ability through progressive and professional instruction – and they have an awesome time doing it!

CIRCUS CAMP

Camp Winnarainbow
Location: Mendocino, California
Ages: 7-14

Learning about the BIG TOP is BIG FUN! This colorful and positive camp embraces the joy of creativity and personal achievement. For 30 years, Winnarainbow camp leaders have been teaching kids about circus performing arts techniques, such as timing, balance, humor, acting, juggling, dancing, gymnastics, the tightrope, the trapeze, clowning, falling, magic and much more!

Along with the great fun of clowning around, Camp Winnarainbow is also dedicated to providing a beautiful training ground in Northern California that supports a strong communion with nature. One of the camp’s main goals is to show future kids how to embrace and contribute to a harmonious and sustainable world. The creative spirit is nurtured in an atmosphere of approval and mutual encouragement. This truly unique camp experience leaves kids with a powerful sense of the creative community.

COOKING CAMP

Chef Kelly Q. Dietrich’s Kids Culinary Summer of Vermont
Location: Highgate Center, Vermont
Ages: 10+

For kids who are always asking to help in the kitchen and have a natural love for cooking and baking, there isn’t a more suitable camp than Kids Culinary Summer Camp. Offering two programs – The Sauté Kitchen and The Baking and Pastry Arts – this taster’s delight introduces kids to the life of a chef.

A wide berth of culinary skills are taught during the one or two week summer camp sessions, including menu planning, bread and pastry baking, beef and poultry cooking, vegetable cookery, seafood, garnishes, cake decorating, soups and sauces, ethnic cooking, knife and chopping skills, utensil skills, kitchen hygiene and healthy eating habits.

And it’s not all just about the kitchen! The curriculum also includes valuable lessons about nutrition and organic food sources; aquaponics (the integrated growing of tilapia fish and micro-greens and herbs in our greenhouse); organic square foot and container gardening; composting beekeeping; and olive oil herbing and bottling.

This unique camp experience provides kids and teens with valuable skills to use with their families throughout the year, in addition to learning how to pursue a career in the culinary arts. Wouldn’t it be amazing for you son or daughter to skillfully prepare delicious meals for the family on a daily basis?

ARCHEOLOGICAL CAMP

Canyon Crow Summer Camp
Location: Cortez, Colorado
Ages: 12+

Are your kids constantly out in the yard looking for old arrowheads or digging for buried pottery and other hidden treasures? Well, now there’s a perfect summer camp for these little archeologists to-be.

At Canyon Crow’s overnight summer camp, kids and teens are invited to study the fascinating past of Pueblo Indians who lived in the American Southwest’s Four Corners area. During their weeklong stay, campers join professional archeologists at a real excavation site to learn the proper procedure of sorting and identifying important artifacts.

Kids also have great fun playing traditional Native American games like spear throwing with an atlati and learning ancient practices like building a fire without matches. This interesting camp experience brings kids closer to the heritage of our country and the people who inhabited the region 700 to 2500 years ago.

SPY CAMP

Camp Lohikan
Location: Lake Como, Pennsylvania
Ages: 7+

Camp Lohikan has taken the game of hide-and-seek to a whole new level. Here campers learn the secrets behind covert operations as they train for exciting missions. Spy camp teaches teamwork, critical thinking, practical skills and physical discipline.

Lohikan’s mini-agents train on 4-wheelers, jet skis and rope courses for quick getaways. (But don’t worry, “quick getaways” in reality means learning safe, evasive driving techniques.)

Kids are also taught combat tactics, martial arts, how to conduct surveillance, code breaking, survival training, interrogation techniques undercover maneuvers and even paintball! (Paintball is limited to 5th grade and up.)

At Camp Lohikan the mission truly IS possible. And what’s the final camp mission? Finding the mole! The kids’ final exam is to participate in a role-playing adventure that is, as they say, “high octane FUN.” This specialty camp experience is an exciting opportunity to understand exactly what it means to be a spy.

GARDENING CAMP

Children’s Peace Summer Camp
Location: Boulder, Colorado
Ages: 4-10

Children’s Peace takes kids back to the roots of a simpler time. Spending warm summer days learning about the beauty of the natural world is a wholesome experience that any child will benefit from and enjoy.

This non-profit day camp teaches campers organic gardening practices and environmental stewardship, in addition to the importance of biodiversity and sustainability.

All hands-on activities encourage peace, respect, friendship and the beauty of connecting with the earth. And Children’s Peace is a lot of fun! Beyond gardening, camp activities include scavenger hunts, writing poetry, dancing, making natural dyes from vegetables and candles from bee hive wax and creating a rich variety of art to be appreciated at community coffee shops.

FASHION CAMP

Sewnow! Fashion Studio
Location: Lafayette, California
Ages: 2nd grade and up

If much to your dismay, your little Diane von Furstenberg is cutting up their clothes only to sew them back together again, it might be time to send them to Sewnow! Fashion Studio. At this overnight summer camp, open to boys and girls, kids are allowed to let their creative colors fly.

Known for being a fun, energetic and friendly atmosphere, Sewnow! is a great experience for those starting from scratch, as well as kids with ample experience. Beginners will learn things like basic sewing, cutting and assembly methods, while advanced campers will learn about computerized drafting systems and machine embroidery.

So if your son or daughter is glued to the TV every time Project Runway comes on, this could be his or her own chance of a lifetime.

ASTRONOMY CAMP

Astronomy Camp
Location: Tucson, Arizona
Ages: 12-17

This camp is truly out of this world. At Arizona’s longest running science camp, kids are invited to explore the universe by operating research-class telescopes. For the young scientist, engineer, physicist, astronomer and astronaut this experience could be the perfect opportunity to accelerate their hobby and motivate them to explore further.

Astronomy Camp is a full immersion overnight camp where young night owls keep nighttime hours, interact with leading scientists, interpret their own observations and have a great deal of fun hanging out with likeminded kids.

During daylight, campers get to participate in other exciting activities like building rockets, mountain biking, bouldering huge rocks, zip lining, treasure hunting with hand-held GPS and exploring microgravity using SCUBA.

What an amazing experience for any young stargazer!

ROCK AND ROLL CAMP

The Rock Farm
Location: Camptown, Pennsylvania
Ages: 8-16

For kids who have experience playing guitar, drums or electric bass guitar, it’s time to rock out! Seriously, for 25 years The Rock Farm is the place for kids with a big passion for big music.

This intensive rock music program gets kids playing right away. 36 campers and 5 instructors are divided into 12 bands that begin rehearsing immediately. But The Rock Farm is not about superstardom or divas; it’s about progressing, jamming and having fun with other young musicians.

Everyday campers take lessons on their primary instrument, in addition to a lesson on any other instrument of choice, “jam-time” and a nightly show. All of the hard work and practice culminates on the last night of camp where all 12 bands perform in an exciting show called “Band Night”.

Specialty Camp Choices Abound!

With all of these incredibly fun specialty camp options to choose from, kids are more likely than ever to find an amazing summer camp that is just right them.

It’s simply a fact that our level of physical fitness affects our wave count as surfers. A surfer who has gotten out of shape is a surfer who catches fewer waves than he or she used to. Exercise is important for all surfers but especially as we age. Remember that it’s important to assess your level of fitness before starting a new exercise routine and start out slowly.

A surfers fitness routine should be tailored to promote Surfing. In other words, you shouldn’t be bodybuilding if your focus is to stay in shape to catch more waves. The heavy lifting required for such an endeavor does not exactly dovetail with the ideal surfing exercise routines. You will end up being too stiff. Surfers should strive for a mix of strength training, cardio, plyometrics, and stretching.

A good way to strength train for surfing is doing 6 exercises of 2 sets of 15 repetitions with light weights. Cable trainers are excellent because you can do so many different exercises on one machine. This is especially true of crucial shoulder exercises. Cable trainers can work the shoulders from many angles through a wide range of motion. Other great exercises include standard dumbbell squats, lunges, chest flies, bicep curls, and tricep extensions. follow those with some back extensions and situps for core strength. It’s good do these with little rest in between so that it becomes a form of cycle training.

Plyometrics are great for creating explosive bursts of power that surfing needs. Leapfrogging across the floor, jumping squats, and mountain climbers are all good examples of plyometrics. You can also just practice surfing pop-ups over and over.

Cardio is necessary to develop the stamina needed for those days when long stretches of paddling are necessary. Running outside is fine or use a treadmill when your at the gym or at home. It’s a good idea to set a slight incline on the treadmill to more closely simulate “street conditions”. A minimum of 1.5 miles is sufficient for most of us, and that can also be mixed with the arm-bike machine for an upper body cardio workout.

Stretching afterwards is very important. Stretching in general becomes even more important as we age in order to avoid injuries while surfing. It’s good to develop a stretching routine that goes on for a minimum of 15 minutes following your workout to maintain flexiblity.

Of course we would all rather be surfing than working out at the gym so exercise really depends on our surfing schedules. When the surf is good you want to be catching waves, not sweating on a treadmill. The bottom line is to strive for a minimum of 3x/week of exercise and surfing, better yet 4x/week.

Monitor your body and your routine. You should notice improvement in your surfing almost immediately. If something is hurting maybe you need to change your routine. If you feel out of shape maybe you need more exercise. Everybody is a little different so you need to come up with something that works best for you. Personal trainers can help motivate you and help you develop something that fits your lifestyle and schedule. Given enough time you should notice a dramatic improvement in your surfing.

Your Browser’s Toolbar Is Spying On You

Spybars are in many cases a much more appropriate name for toolbars, because toolbars often contain either adware, spyware or both. Adware is in itself not dangerous, but it can be very annoying, since as the name implies it delivers ads to your PC. Typically these ads appear in the form of pop-ups or pop-unders. Spyware is worse because it spies on you; it monitors Surfing habits, keyword searches or even logs keystrokes and proceeds to submit this information to a 3rd party without your knowledge. A toolbar is a tool to help the internet user perform various actions while browsing the web, so it is a perfect place to hide a spyware or adware program.

One way of obtaining the toolbars is simply to download and install them your self. In this case you will often be prompted to click “I Agree” to an “end user license agreement”. Personally I almost never read those; I just click “next-next-agree-install” and I think many people do the same. Lots of adware distributed in this way will be described in the license agreement, so the lesson here is to always read it before clicking on the agree-button. A toolbar can also come bundled with a free piece of software, so again you should always read the license agreement, when you install a free program (sometimes there is good reason why it is free).

Toolbars can also install themselves silently when you surf certain websites, through pop-ups or activeX controls. All of a sudden a new toolbar appears in your internet browser, even though you know with certainty, that you did not install it. This is cause for alarm.

Below I have listed a few toolbars to illustrate their purpose.

Alibaba Toolbar
This one monitors keyword searches and submits the results to a 3rd party without the user’s knowledge. The information can be used to tailor ads to match the searches.

DotCom Toolbar
DCT hijacks your default homepage and your browser settings. This means it sets you browser’s startup page to something else. It also reports data back to a 3rd party and generally causes system and connectivity issues.

SearchSprint Toolbar
This is a bad one. You will get it through an axtiveX control when browsing the internet. It starts when a “trojan downloader” named “roimoi” gets downloaded onto your PC (It will be with a misleading name). Repeated pop-ups may be displayed until download is accepted. Once the trojan is installed it proceeds to download and install other components such as SearchSprint. The toolbar hijacks keyword searches and replaces the results with ads from another website. It also steals e-mail addresses and sends them to a 3rd party, enabling them to submit e-mail ads to those addresses.

Xupiter Toolbar
This bad boy has been around for several years and exists now in many versions. This is because Xupiter’s programmers have kept updating the code to get around anti spyware/adware updates.
The toolbar is typically installed without the user’s knowledge, while surfing various websites and through pop-ups or activeX controls.
Once Xupiter has installed it self it begins to perform it’s devious acts, which include:
– Hijacking the internet browser’s start page. – Monitoring surfing habits and reporting them. – Displaying pop-up and pop-under ads. – Silently updating itself.

The Xupiter toolbar has been very difficult to get rid of and doing this manually should not be attempted by a PC novice.

There are many more spy toolbars out there and they all pretty much exhibit the same behavior as the examples above. A toolbar can be a great add-on to your web browser, but you should be very careful when installing one. Take the following precautions:
– Never download a toolbar before you have done a few web searches on it, to determine if it contains spyware/adware.
– Always read the end user license agreement before installing a toolbar.
– Always read the end user license agreement before installing free software.
– Always perform a full system scan with an anti spyware/adware program, if a new toolbar suddenly appears in your browser.

And as always you should make sure you have an anti spyware/adware program installed.

Do you need a licence to surf?

Surfers, do you need a licence to surf or if you have a surf-board can you just march out there and start. Also would lessons be necessary? And can you rent surf-boards and wetsuits to take on holiday?

Thank you very much

Nope. no license required. But agree with tropic Joe, maybe there should be one. First of all, surfing is an ocean sport. It should only be practiced by people who are competent ocean swimmers. The ocean can be very dangerous.Lessons are the best way to start surfing. Lessons can come from a professional instructor, or surfing family members or experienced surfing friends. You have to learn surf etiquette (so the experienced surfers in the line up don’t want to drown you), how to paddle and take off on a wave, and how to ride a wave. The last thing experienced surfers want is for inexperienced people to just grab a board, rush into the surf and get in our way. Lessons shorten the learning curve significantly. And they help keep ignorant, un-prepared kooks out of the water and out of the way of more experienced surfers. Beginners should take advantage of renting boards and wetsuits while taking lessons. If it turns out you don’t like surfing, you haven’t wasted a whole lot of money on gear that you are not going to use.

I have been surfing for 44 years and had a lifetime of fun doing it. Take the time to learn the right way, and you can have that much fun too.

Learning to Explore Arizona Tourism

Admittedly, the Grand Canyon is an attraction in itself, but took the Grand Canyon, there are still many other attractions that this state of the desert has to offer. Is it due to diversified climate where people can travel north to cool in the summer heat or access in many lakes where you can go boating or fishing? Or is it because in the heart of winter, visitors can travel north, where you can go skiing in the mountains?
Most families want to spend their vacation relaxing and recouping after a hectic year of work and managing home. However, there are some families that like to spend their time enjoying and indulging into adventure sports to get their adrenaline flowing. If you are the kind of person who loves rock climbing, skiing, kayaking or go snowboarding, then read on.

While some people may not be up to adventure vacations, they are definitely a great way to bond with your family and spend some thrilling and enjoyable time together. Of course, it goes without saying that adventure vacations go beyond the usual and traditional vacations that most people have. If you want to experience an adventure vacation, then here are some ideas to get you started:

• Think about going kayaking with your family. This is a sport for people who know how to swim as you may take a lot of spills in the water. However, even if you do not know swimming, you can go kayaking provided you wear your life jacket at all times. Some of the best destinations for kayaking include Vancouver, Maine, and Nicoya Peninsula located in Costa Rica.

• If you do not mind huffing and puffing, then hiking is another outdoor activity that you can try. Walking along nature trails, climbing hills and rocks and resting near spectacular waterfalls has its own charm that is difficult to explain in words. For the best hiking experience, visit High Sierra in California, Lake Tahoe or Yukon Charles Rivers National Preserve situated in Alaska. You can also opt for international destinations like the Swiss Alps or the magnificent Inca trails in the heart of Peru.

• Try camping where you have to catch your own food. Imagine hooking your own fish and then cooking your dinner on a fire along the banks of a river? Sound exciting, doesn’t it? Make sure you select the right destination for a camping trip and do not forget to carry emergency supplies. If you are not interested in pitching your own tent, then you can also go for trip in an RV. Some of the best camping spots are Flat Tops located in Colorado, Aloha Lakes in California and Philip Edward Island.
